I think John Butcher is one of the exciting saxophonists working today – particularly when preforming solo. During my years in London, I would do my best to never miss him. His understanding of the instrument, and manipulation of acoustic resonance, strays into territories touched by no other. Here are recordings of two sets from Issue Project room on 11/11/09. There’s nothing like being there, but given the medium, this is the best we’ll get. I hope you enjoy.
