Back in 2000, La Monte Young released a film of a six hour and forty minute  performance of The Well-Tuned Piano, recorded in 1987, and accompanied by Marian Zazeela’s magenta light instillation. Issued by his own Just Dreams imprint in a tiny edition, it has remained nearly unobtainable in the years since, with prices generally in excess of $500 dollars on secondary market. Fragments have occasionally surfaced online, but to my knowledge it has never been uploaded in its entirety. The folks over at Sounds of The Dawn have done us the incredible service of placing it in the public realm. Given its length, it’s not your average undertaking, but something tells me it won’t stick around for long. Here’s your chance. Enjoy!
